Lawyers are an integral part of our society. Even critics agree that lawyers are important. The public and the legal profession share an interest in how lawyers work, how they relate to the public interest, and how the profession is regulated. On Lawyering follows the ongoing development of the legal profession and its impact on and with our culture.

Richard Cassidy has practiced law since 1980. He served for 14 years as member of the Vermont Board of Bar Examiners, including 11 years as its Chair. He has served in the American Bar Association House of Delegates from 1999 through the 2015 Annual Meeting, and also served a term on the ABA Board of Governors. He chaired the ABA’s Standing Committee on the Delivery of Legal Services and was a special advisor to the Committee. Richard has been a member of the Uniform Law Commission since 1994, served as its Secretary from 2009 to 2011, and as its President from 2015 to 2017.

He is the founder of Rich Cassidy Law, a Vermont law firm that focuses on personal injury litigation, employment law and Rich’s work as a mediator and arbitrator.

Cassidy is admitted to the bar in the states of New York and Vermont and to practice before the United States District Court for Districts of Vermont and the Northern District of New York, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
